- Peter Westphal
- Wolfgang Speer
The exhibition featured works in a variety of techniques, including oil painting, watercolors, graphics, sculpture, and silk and lacquer painting. They had previously been on display in the 1976/77 All-Vietnamese Art Exhibition on the occasion of the 4th Party Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Werner Lamberz of the Central Committee of the SED, the Minister of Culture of the GDR Hans-Joachim Hoffmann and the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the GDR Hoang Tu were present at the opening in the Neue Berliner Galerie. The GDR press also portrayed the exhibition as a gesture of gratitude for solidarity with North Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
As part of the exhibition programme, a gallery talk was held on September 21, 1977 with the graphic artists Wolfgang Speer and Peter Westphal, who had traveled through North Vietnam in 1970 to portray protagonists of the Vietnam War.
On September 24, 1977 the exhibition was reviewed by K. J. Wendlandt in an article titled "Eine Kunst, im Kampf gereift und erblüht" in the newspaper Neues Deutschland.
